The state of Western Australia has a population of 2.7 million clustered mainly around state capital Perth and the southern coastal regions.

    WACHS has the following categories of jobs available:

    • consultant / specialist doctors in most primary specialities and especially general medicine, general surgery, anesthetics, emergency medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry
    • general practitioners with expertise in rural and remote medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics and anaesthesia.
    • district medical officers - general practitioners with a minimum of 8 years postgraduate experience
    • junior doctors in a mixture of accredited training and non training (service) jobs at the level of house officer and registrar
  • What are the employment terms for permanent jobs?

    Permanent employment contracts are of 5 years duration with possible options for further extension. 


    Remuneration and Benefits are as follows:


    Salary: Year 1-9 $375,863 – $473,828 p.a.    (Inclusive of base salary, 11% superannuation and applicable allowances)

  • How can I get a locum job with WACHS?

    Candidates applying for locum jobs with WACHS must have the following credentials: 

    1. AHPRA registration - general or specialist
    2. Right to work in Australia - citizenship, permanent residency or a visa which allows you to work
  • What are locum pay rates at WACHS?

    Locums are paid as independent contractors under the terms of a Medical Services Agreement issued by WACHS.  Locums work shifts and are paid an agreed daily or hourly rate which varies according to qualifications and experience.
