Position Highlights
- 110 bed general hospital proving secondary medical and surgical services with tertiary referral to Hamilton
- responsibilities include pre-op anaesthesia clinic, provision of anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgery, participating in the peri-operative management of post-op patients on the ICU/ HDU and on the wards, preparation of critically ill patients requiring transfer to tertiary centres, advising on pain management and providing out-of-hours anaesthesia services to maternity, critical care, theatres and the emergency department.
- contribute to teaching for junior doctors and other disciplines.
- 40 hour working week plus on call rota
- favourable to have expertise in paediatric anaesthesia due to a growing number of children and young people accessing anaesthetic services
- favourable to have expertise in Critical Care (or recent resuscitation and critical care expertise) due to the increasing acuity and complexity of patients accessing emergency and surgical services.
- Salary dependent upon experience and ASMS scale
- Allowances for on call and extra duties
- Total remuneration NZD 200000 - 400000 PA
- superannuation 6%
- 6 weeks annual leave
- Study leave 10 days PA plus NZD 16K PA

- FANZCA or equivalent qualification
- Eligible for vocational or provisional vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- expertise or experience in paediatric anaesthesia and / or ICU desirable
