Seeking a cardiothoracic surgeon for a fellowship position in a tertiary hospital in New Zealand's North Island. Competitive compensation with relocation support and visa sponsorship. Starts Dec 2024 / Jan 2025 for 12 months.

Position highlights 
  • a tertiary referral and teaching hospital with level 1 major trauma centre located 90 minutes drive from Auckland
  • performs over 650 open heart procedures a year with an active TAVI, aortic surgery and around 200 thoracic cases with active thoracoscopy services uni and multiportal access.
  • fellowship provides experience in complex adult cardiac surgery, and includes aortic root and arch surgery, multiple valve replacement and repair, rheumatic heart disease, off pump and arterial revascularisation, thoracic aortic surgery including stenting and hybrid aortic procedures.
  • Manage outpatients and inpatients in Cardiothoracic Surgery Department
  • 40 hour week plus on call rota
  • Participate in departmental meetings and be involved in teaching and service development
  • Conduct research and quality improvement projects

Requirements
  • FRACS or equivalent qualification and hold or be eligible for registration as a specialist cardiothoracic surgeon with the Medical Council of New Zealand

Remuneration
  • salary and allowances NZD 200,000 - 450,000 PA DOE

  • 6 weeks paid vacation PA
