Seeking a consultant psychiatrist for a full time position providing old age  psychiatry services in a regional general hospital providing secondary medical services on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. 

Position Highlights
  • The Older Persons (Pakeke) Mental Health Service provides support to help older people experiencing serious mental health problems reach their best possible function and wellness.
  • it is a multidisciplinary team lead by 2 consultant psychiatrists based at a 400 bed general hospital 
  • work with people aged 65 years and over who have mental health problems and/or people with dementia complicated by complex behaviour and/or psychological symptoms
  • team provides a ‘specialist behavioural management with dementia’ service.
  • patients are assessed in the out patients clinics and community
  • work closely with the geriatricians and wider older person’s health services.
  • access to CPD activities to meet ongoing registration requirements 
Professional Requirements
  • FRANZCP or equivalent qualification accepted by the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Experience in old age psychiatry
