- referral centres are Waikato and Auckland.
- ten bedded closed ICU, with capacity for six ventilated and four HDU patients.
- ICU expansion planned to 16 beds with capacity for eight ventilated.
- surge planning includes the ability to ventilate 16 to 22 patients with reduced nursing ratios.
- ICU admits between 1000 and 1200 patients per year, a mix of paediatric, acute medical and surgical and elective surgical cases.
- A specialised transport nurse and helicopter are available every day.
- ICU doctors are required to assist on some transports.

Requirements
- Medical degree
- Experience - PGY 3 level with 2 years clinical experience post graduation
- Eligibility for provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
